Eye Care Mission to Africa
(April 10 – 18, 2027)
We are thrilled to announce and invite you to join us on our exciting first mission to Northwest Africa. We will be serving the people of the picturesque island of Saint-Louis, Senegal.
Saint-Louis, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stands as a testament to Senegal’s rich colonial past and vibrant cultural present. Nestled on an island at the mouth of the Senegal River, it offers a unique blend of elegant French architecture, bustling markets, and a captivating jazz scene. It’s also an ideal base for exploring nearby natural wonders like the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary and the stunning Lompoul Desert.
The mission will occur inclusive of our in-country dates of April 10, 2027 (Saturday) through April 18, 2027 (Sunday). We will travel through Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) in Dakar. We plan to lodge at the Yoonu Njub Center.
We will conduct our free eye care clinic over four days from Monday, April 12 through Thursday, April 15. We will plan excursions for the following Friday and Saturday, April 16 and April 17.
The donation for this mission is only $1975 per volunteer, $1875 if received by September 30, 2026. A payment plan is available upon request. Please know that all of your donation is used to fund program and project activities, equipment, and supplies. Sight is a Right is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. Your project donation and travel expenses are tax deductible as allowable by law.
Included:
- Up to 8 nights (9 days) lodging from Saturday, April 10 to Sunday, April 18. You may shorten this to 6 or 7 nights if necessary (Saturday to Friday or Saturday to Saturday), but you will miss out on Friday and Saturday excursions and be responsible for your transportation back to the airport.
- All meals from dinner on Saturday, April 10 to breakfast on Sunday, April 18 (special dietary needs will be accommodated).
- Airport transportation between the airport and Saint-Louis.
- In country transportation for all included events, excluding excursions.
- At least a $1,000,000 travel medical insurance policy (as low as $50,000 to $100,000 for those 64 and older). We always do our best to maximize the coverage. Additional insurance may be purchased.
- 4 days of clinic.
- Shopping / touring day in Saint-Louis.
- All project / clinic overhead expenses and leadership.
- All clinic materials including medications, reading, sun, and prescription glasses (we may ask you to help carry supplies).
- Customs and ministry of health oversight.
- Two team t-shirts.
- An epic life experience!
Not included:
- Airfare to and from Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) in Dakar.
- Special beverages, extra food, and excursion costs.
There is huge interest, space is very limited, and we expect to fill up quickly for this very special mission.
